Privacy Policy

Nook is a calm home for your ideas. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we never do with it — in plain language, because privacy policies deserve to be readable too.

What we collect

  • Account information: your email address, username, and password (stored as a secure hash — we can never read it).
  • The content you save: notes, links, images, tags, spaces, and the optional notes you attach when saving. This is your data; we store it so it can sync across your devices.
  • We do not collect your browsing history, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use your data

  • Only to run Nook: keeping your content in sync across the web app, mobile app, and browser extension, and powering features like search, sharing, and Daily Spark.
  • We never sell your data, never share it with advertisers, and never use your content to build profiles about you.

The browser extension

  • The extension only acts when you click. It reads the page you're on solely at the moment you save something from it — the address, title, and the image or text you chose.
  • Your sign-in token and last-used space are stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage) so you stay signed in. Nothing is sent anywhere except to the Nook API, over HTTPS, to your own account.
  • The extension has no analytics and does not track the pages you visit.

Sharing

  • Sharing is always your choice. When you share a space or an item — directly with a user or with a link — recipients get a read-only copy. Anyone with a share link can view what it points to, so share links thoughtfully.
  • You can revoke your shares at any time from the app.

Storage & security

  • Your data lives on our servers (hosted on Railway) and is transferred exclusively over HTTPS. Authentication uses short-lived signed tokens.
  • Uploaded images are stored on our media storage and served only through the app.

Your rights

  • You can edit or delete any note, space, or share at any time — deletion is immediate and permanent.
  • You can change your password and profile details from the app.
  • To delete your account and all of its data, contact us and we'll take care of it promptly.
